RIDDOR requires employers and others in control of premises to report certain accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences arising out of or in connection with work.
If a member of staff is involved in an incident/accident at work that results in ANY lost time, please ensure you complete the return-to-work date on EEC in the section labelled “Did the injured person go absent following the incident?” If they are unable to attend work for 7 days or more as a result of the incident, NOT including the day of the accident but including rest/non work days or they are unable to carry out their “normal” duties please notify the Health & Safety Service immediately as this incident will be RIDDOR Reportable.
For accidents resulting in the over-7-day incapacitation of a worker, the HSE must be notified within 15 days of the incident, and this is why the Heath & Safety Service need prompt reporting.
For our VA and Foundation schools, the school Governors are responsible for reporting RIDDORs into the HSE, and the Health & Safety Service can give guidance on this if needed, providing the information is logged onto EEC.
