Dementia Awareness
Dementia & Delirium: an interactive, practical, learner‑led day designed to build confidence and real‑world skills. Learners set their own goals, and the session is shaped around them, using real examples, shared experiences and hands‑on activities aligned to the Dementia Training Standards Framework.
This course is mapped to the Care Workforce Pathway Framework and supports the following roles: Care Workers/ Support Workers/ Activity Coordinators/ Senior Carers/ Team Leaders.
It is ideal for people working directly with people living with dementia or delirium.
Delivered by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s specialist Dementia & Delirium Team – a highly skilled multidisciplinary service recognised for evidence‑based practice, person‑centred care and expertise that strengthens confidence across every care setting and is based in Somerset.

Care Refusal: Capacity
A practical capacity-focused session that aims to build confidence in responding safely, lawfully, and respectfully when an individual refuses care or treatment. Learners explore real‑world scenarios and deepen their understanding of consent, capacity and best‑interest decision‑making, with clear guidance on balancing autonomy, protection and dignity.
This course is mapped to the Care Workforce Pathway Framework and supports the following roles:

Care Worker/ Senior Carer/ Team Leader/ Deputy Manager
It is particularly valuable for staff who regularly support individuals with fluctuating or impaired capacity.
Delivered by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s Mental Capacity Act Lead – a recognised specialist , expert supporting providers to embed safe, lawful, and person‑centred decision‑making across services and working as part of a network with Somerset partners.
