Employees and volunteers using personal vehicles for Council-related activities (excluding commutes to an agreed place of work) must complete a Driver Risk Assessment form. Managers are responsible for ensuring these assessments are reviewed promptly to comply with the Council’s Driving your Personal Vehicle for Work Policy.

Those concerned should not drive for work without an approved risk assessment as it results in non-compliance with Council Policy and employees may be driving without the correct documentation, such as business insurance, MOT, and a valid licence.

Somerset Council is dedicated to assessing and managing driving risks, reducing unnecessary driving, and ensuring compliance with legal prohibitions on mobile phone use while driving.
