Adult social care, health and voluntary sector organisations will come together in Crewkerne this month to help local residents find out more about the support available in their community.
Somerset Council is hosting a free Health and Social Care Information Day at Crewkerne Community Hospital on Friday 16 October, from 10am to 3.30pm. The event is open to everyone and aims to make it easier for people to access information, advice and guidance about health, wellbeing and social care services.
Visitors will have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from Adult Social Care, NHS Somerset, the FAB team and Somerset Independent Living Centres (SILC). Mini health checks will also be available on the day.
Residents who may benefit from a Care Act Assessment or Carer’s Assessment will be able to discuss their circumstances with staff and find out more about the process.
A range of voluntary and community organisations will also be attending, including Open Mental Health, ARK, Changes Peer Group and Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP). Additional organisations are expected to be confirmed nearer the event.
The information day is designed to bring services together in one place, helping people understand what support is available locally and where to go for further help.
There is no parking available at Crewkerne Community Hospital, although a drop-off area will be available for visitors.
Anyone unable to attend can still access information about adult social care through the step-by-step guides on the Somerset Council website. Recordings of social care webinars covering frequently asked questions are also available to watch on the council’s YouTube channel.
