The Corporate Health and Safety Unit (CHSU) has published a new Health & Safety chatbot to assist you with Health and Safety queries.

CHSU’s chatbot is designed to assist with basic enquiries, guidance, polices and locating forms.

Health and Safety chatbot: Health and Safety chatbot

Simply type your questions into the chatbot, such as “How do I make a risk assessment?”, “Show me the Manual Handling Policy”, “How do I report an incident?”, and more. Colleagues with SharePoint access can interact with our bot by visiting our SharePoint page Corporate Health and Safety (sharepoint.com)

Employees and volunteers working without access to the corporate SharePoint site e.g., our LA maintained schools, and field-based staff working remotely, will be able to access the chatbot via Somerset Council’s Health and Safety website regardless of whether they’re using a work or personal phone, laptop, or tablet.

We’ve programmed the chatbot with over 125 topic areas, however, we’re also conscious that as this is new process, the chatbot may not be able to respond with satisfactory answers to all the queries it receives. Where that is the case, please do not be discouraged from using the chatbot, our team will be regularly reviewing the content of enquiries and where there is a need to do so, we’ll add additional questions and responses to ensure continuous improvements are made to the chatbot.

This is what our colleagues in ICT had to say about the chatbot:

“The CHSU chatbot is a wonderful example of a service-designed and service-developed solution. Making use of available technologies, the CHSU has created a solution to a business requirement with minimal resource. All eyes will be on the benefits that this chatbot can deliver and how it could be the catalyst for ICT to look at much broader innovations in this area.”
