Hobbycraft has recalled the Giant Box of Craft (Product No. 6686021000) due to coloured sand vials in the set that may contain trace asbestos fibres.
Asbestos is banned in the UK and poses health risks even at low exposure.
All Somerset Council Maintained Schools must take immediate action if this product is on site.
Disposal Guidance
If unused and still packaged:
- Place in a heavy‑duty plastic bag.
- Double‑tape securely.
- Label and store in a secure area away from children.
If sand has been used:
- Clean areas with wet cloths (avoid dust).
- Wear gloves and a mask.
- Double‑bag sand, cloths, gloves and mask in heavy‑duty polythene.
- Keep others away until cleaning is complete.
