As part of the Council’s policy review programme, the Health and Safety Service has published updated policies on the Health and Safety Internet site.
The following policies were reviewed:
- New and Expectant Parents HS017 (Supporting Guidance and risk assessment template available)
- Working Safely at Height HS027 (Supporting Guidance and a Ladder Inspection form available)
- Biological Agent, Infection Control and Blood-borne Viruses HS007 (Supporting Guidance and Hepatitis B Virus Disclaimer form available)
- Working Outside in the Sun and Extremes of Heat and Cold HS033 (In reviewing the legacy County Council’s Sun Protection policy, additional content pertaining to outdoor working in the extremes of heat and cold was included)
- Safety Action Notices HS006 (This policy sets out the approach the Council will administer, when taking action to address identified or reported noncompliance, hazards, or serious risks to H&S)
We have also published two new policies:
- Confined Spaces HS042 (Supporting Guidance available)
- Water Assets HS041 (Supporting Guidance available)
Not all of the policies will apply to every service as they are subject specific. However, for instance, the New and Expectant Parents Policy which will apply to all service areas employing staff who are pregnant, have given birth in the last 6 months, or those breastfeeding. Where the policies apply to your area, managers and employees are asked to review their responsibilities stated in the policies to ensure services are operating in a compliant manner.
