Somerset Council is committed to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of its employees. The Council recognises that stress can damage the mental and physical health of its employees and proactively aims to increase wellbeing at work and will do all that it reasonably can to ensure that employees do not suffer stress-related illness because of work.

As part of the Health and Safety Service’s policy review program, the Supporting Wellbeing and Work-Related Stress Policy was updated to make it easier for Managers and Employees to understand their responsibilities. We’ve also created a new guidance document and two new risk assessments.

Guidance Document

The Guidance document has been slimmed down and contains guidance for Managers and Employees, as well as frequently asked questions. There is also a section on recognising signs and symptoms of Stress.

Risk Assessments

F15a

  • The F15a is a self-assessment, this form can be completed by any employee or volunteer who feels they are experiencing signs or symptoms of stress. It’s quick and easy to complete.

F15b

  • The F15b is a talking toolkit, designed to be completed with your line manager to help identify any stress triggers and put an action plan together to help reduce the feeling of stress. The F15b can be completed at any time.

Both risk assessment templates are on our Policies and Guidance page.
