The reporting RIDDOR incidents requires employers and others in control of premises to report certain accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences arising out of or in connection with work.

If a member of staff is involved in an incident/accident at work that results in any lost time, please ensure you complete the return-to-work date on EEC in the section labelled “Did the injured person go absent following the incident?” If they are unable to attend work for 7 days or more as a result of the incident, not including the day of the accident but including rest/non work days or they are unable to carry out their “normal” duties please notify the Health and Safety Service immediately as this incident will be RIDDOR reportable.

For accidents resulting in the over-7-day incapacitation of a worker, the HSE must be notified within 15 days of the incident, and this is why the Health & Safety Service need prompt reporting on EEC.

For our VA and Foundation schools, the school Governors (The Governing Body) are responsible for reporting RIDDORs into the HSE, and the Health and Safety Service can give guidance on this if needed, providing the information is logged onto EEC.
